| Summary: | No matter how valued the dialogue is, everywhere, and no matter how often we might want to underscore the advances of science and technology, we cannot be naive. Indeed, it doesn’t seem to be by chance that certain sectors of society keep returning to the same keynote: religions, especially the Christian streams, besides being backward, are also obscurantist. In the name of science, even values that existed before the institutionalized religions and that strictly do not even depend on the religions are called into question. For this very reason, the present moment requires much discernment to help us separate the wheat from the chaff. Not everything that glitters is gold, and not everything that carries the “scientific” label is really scientific. Often, the label may be hiding an ideology of great power that may destroy values that are indispensable for the survival of any society. Por mais que seja valorizado o diálogo, em todas as direções, e por mais que queiramos ressaltar os avanços das ciências e tecnologias, não podemos ser ingênuos. Efetivamente, não parece ser por acaso que certos setores da sociedade voltem sempre de novo à mesma tônica: as religiões e, sobretudo, as correntes cristãs, além de atrasadas, seriam obscurantistas. Em nome das ciências, colocam-se em questão até valores que são anteriores às religiões institucionalizadas e, a rigor, nem dependem das religiões. Por isso mesmo, o momento presente requer muito discernimento, para separar o joio do trigo. Nem tudo o que brilha é ouro, e nem tudo o que carrega o adesivo “científico” o é de fato. Muitas vezes, o adesivo pode estar escondendo uma ideologia de grande poder destrutivo de valores indispensáveis para a sobrevivência de qualquer sociedade. |
