Gilgamesh sees the deep: from shame to honour

The role played by honour and shame are examined in the epic of Gilgamesh, with particular reference to the development of the character of Gilgamesh as he matures from youth to adulthood. The honour-and-shame motif undoubtedly lends moments of dramatic development to the epic.
