Description
Summary:The philosophical foundations of multicultural education. In this article an attempt is made to penetrate the philosophical foundations of multicultural education. Research reveals that some efforts at formulating such philosophical points of view cannot pass the equilibrium test: in these cases some or other aspect of created reality is frequently overemphasized or absolutized. Other formulations are, however, able to pass this test and thus conform to the demands of an integrated view of reality, man, knowledge and society. It has also become evident that multicultural education cannot be regarded as a purely didactic undertaking; it also presupposes a clear philosophical basis.
