Description
Summary:The martyrs Nazarius, Celsus, Gervasius and Protasius of Milan, whose relics were discovered at the end of the fourth century in two successive inventions, were then reunited in the same hagiographic account. The latter is an example of a complex tradition in which a Passion was first drawn up in Latin, then translated into Greek and finally in the 6th-7th century retranslated into Latin (BHL 6043). The edition of the retranslated text is preceded by an analysis of the Latin tradition of the four martyrs.
