Bruno died on October 6, 1101, in Calabria, Italy, and his death is considered painful for his companions and his brothers of the Chartreuse. Bruno's body was buried in the cemetery of the hermitage in bare earth which is the custom among Carthusians and his canonization was not done until 1514.
