Summary:The article examines the influence of the formation on the Second Vatican Council on the involvement of laities in the celebration of liturgy in the U.S. It examines the condition of the Church prior to the formation of the council. The description of the term liturgy based on the "Sacrosanctum Concilium," a constitution of the Second Vatican Council, is presented. Discussions generated on the Liturgy of Hours and reception of the Opus Dei, the Divine Office, in the U.S. are discussed.
