| Riepilogo: | With the premise that there is a conflict to some extent in nearly all confessional ecclesiastical affiliations, the question is posed: what should the church do in order to be truly church in the divided South African society? Addressing the white churches in particular, the author suggests that they should adopt a new moral vision, a new approach to life, a dream of Biblical justice. This would imply accepting all people as people created in the image of God, and for whom Christ was crucified and resurrected. Discussing various ways in which this ideal may be brought about, the author suggests that Christians, individually and in groups, start reading the Gospel with new eyes, so that they can experience something of the inequality and tension in the society, and so that they can share this dream with others. However, to accomplish this will take courage. |
