| Summary: | Beton ist das dominante Baumaterial im Kirchenbau der Nachkriegsmoderne. Dank des Gussverfahrens und der hohen Tragfähigkeit ermöglicht das Material neue Formgebungen, was sich auch auf die Gestaltung der Kirchtürme auswirkt. Der Aufsatz bietet eine kleine Geschichte bzw. Typologie des Kirchturms von 1950 bis in die Gegenwart anhand der römisch-katholischen und evangelisch-reformierten Kirchen der Schweiz. Dabei wird auch die Frage diskutiert, welches Selbstverständnis von Kirche sich in der Formgebung und Symbolik der Türme spiegelt. Concrete is the dominant building material in post-war modernist church buildings. Thanks to the casting process and its high load-bearing capacity, the material enables new forms of design, which also has an impact on the design of church towers. This essay offers a brief history and typology of church towers from 1950 to the present, based on the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches in Switzerland. It also discusses the question of which self-image of the church is reflected in the design and symbolism of the towers. |
