Description
Summary:This contribution was devised as a design for analysis of the poetry of biblical psalms. It carries on from where the author left off in earlier publications. It is argued that poetry should be understood as a structured network between a plurality of systems of reference. In this kind of textual arrangement, the different levels of language (grammar, semantics, phonology, prosody) and structural building blocks (colon, verse line, strophe, stanza, and poem) are interrelated. In addition to that, metaphoric language plays a decisive role in psalmic poetry. Important aspects of a poetic interpretation are demonstrated, using Psalm 130 as an example.
