Description
Summary:This study explores the organisational hybridity and conflict resolution within the Malagasy Protestant Church (FJKM). It investigates how cultural and institutional factors influence conflicts, focusing on two detailed case studies. The first case examines the disputes between a regional Moderator and a parish minister, highlighting issues of authority, social belonging, and institutional roles. The second case addresses conflicts arising from the influence of the descendants of a retired Minister, emphasising the interaction between cultural and ecclesial authority. Through these cases, the research identifies key elements that contribute to conflict and suggests strategies for managing hybridity in church organisations. The analysis draws on the model of a hybrid practical theology in the Malagasy context, aiming to integrate cultural values of Fihavanana (social cohesion) and Raiamandreny (eldership) with contemporary ecclesial structures.
