Description
Summary:In this article it is argued that archaeology is not only capable of elucidating the concrete, but also the intellectual life of ancient Israel. Proverbs 1:20-22; 8:1-3; Ecclesiastes 12:11 and Psalm 1:3 are discussed as examples where archaeology facilitates the understanding of wisdom texts. Furthermore it is argued, by referring mostly to the book of Qohelet, that archaeology also elucidates the world that creates wisdom.
