Description
Summary:In our reading of the Old Testament poetic texts it is striking that the genre concepts of the past century have not changed much. These concepts are generally accepted as fixed, both in introductions and in papers on the Old Testament. Yet it is often difficult to fit the typical genre designations into our exegetical processes. This paper investigates the genre 'lamentation' and explores ideas to enrich typical concepts about genre with the help of an example, Psalm 77.
