| Summary: | Genetically modified organisms are a typical case of "technocratic" intervention in life. Their proliferation is entailing a series of consequences for the environment, and human and environmental health. This demands an integral discernment, as Laudato Si’ calls for. Such discernment must be carried out with the intervention of various methods and agents: biological, ecological, economic, sociological, but also ethical. From its particular vision, theology has a responsibility of evaluation. A theology of life that contributes its vision of this living world, created in evolution, in which the human being finds himself. The paradigm of "technocracy" in Laudato Si' is useful to address this issue. |
