| Σύνοψη: | The recent study by Nadav Naʾaman on the Judean »fiscal« bullae from private collections supports the reliability of the synchronism between the deaths of Ahaz and Tiglath-pileser III in Isa 14:28-29. Close attention to this synchronism and to the way it is anchored in Mesopotamian chronology dates the death of Ahaz and the enthronement of Hezekiah to 727/6 BCE (a year later than suggested by Naʾaman) and leads to important conclusions concerning the calendars and the systems of counting regnal years practiced in the courts of Hezekiah of Judah and his contemporary, Hoshea of Israel. |
