Summary:This article deals with the Spanish medieval poet, Gonzalo de Berceo, author of the Miracles of Our Lady, and it centres basically around the configuration of man as a pilgrim in one of the texts of this friar poet. Firstly, the article examines the motive for the pilgrimage and its significance in Christian culture; then, it contextualises the work of Berceo, ending with a brief examination of the XXII Miracle: the saved castaway.
