| Summary: | Early in 1998 a new Dutch protestant liturgical manual was published, entitled De weg van de liturgie (The way of the liturgy). This paper is not so much intended as a review of this manual, but as an effort to locate it by critically positioning it in multiple contemporary contexts. After a brief survey of its content, De Weg is viewed as an act of synthesis and confronted by four contexts. It is first considered in a) the broad context of the synthesis in liturgical studies in general, then placed in an b) international and c) national context, and finally, in conclusion, is confronted with d) the contemporary cultural context. |
