Descrição
Resumo:Due to the ongoing pluralization, educational innovations and ecumenical progress, inter-denominational cooperation has become a decisive feature of RE in Germany in the last decades. However, the organizational shape of this specific type of RE has changed repeatedly over the last decades, leading to a plurality of forms and regional variations in German federal states. This article gives a systematic overview of the current state of this field, pointing to limitations as well as to promising ecumenical developments. In addition, it emphasizes the educational underpinning of inter-denominational cooperation and calls special attention to classroom research on the practice of teaching and learning. Finally, from an ecumenical perspective, desiderata are highlighted that need to be addressed in terms of the future sustainability of RE as a whole.
