| Summary: | The essay embeds Martin Kirschner's project of a 'theology in the transformation processes of the present' in the reception of the Second Vatican Council in the pontificate of Francis and in the current reform endeavors of a church on synodal paths. Today it is a matter of utmost importance to explore the profound spiritual dimension of the Council and to work out the liberating and synodal dynamics in the pontificate of Francis. This requires the development of theological hermeneutics that stand as a 'topical dialogue' in the service of transformation and that understands itself as a performative theology based on the conversion dynamics of the Gospel and as strong in conflict. This is a way of thinking that enables us to trace the kenotic self-dedication of the divine Logos in the 'signs of the times'. |
