| Summary: | O objetivo desta reflexão é traçar uma narrativa da violência contra religiosos católicos no México durante os últimos trinta anos. A ideia é classificar os casos de homicídio, estabelecer as frequências dos crimes e os principais padrões de violência. Desde 2007, o México tornou-se uma zona de conflito e o fenômeno dos assassinatos de padres aumentou exponencialmente. A nossa hipótese é que, no México, os padres católicos representam uma ameaça às organizações criminosas, especialmente em áreas onde vários grupos do crime organizado competem pelo controle político e econômico da região. Pretendemos fazer uma comparação das áreas de violência para identificar se existe uma concordância geográfica entre os homicídios de religiosos católicos com relação a outros assassinatos. Os dados analisados terão origem em reportagens sobre homicídios no México contra padres e religiosos coletados do Centro Católico de Multimídia (Centro Católico Multimedial). Este artigo, portanto, é parte de uma investigação mais ampla que estamos realizando para compreender a violência religiosa num México que se transformou em zona de conflito nos últimos 18 anos. The objective of this article is to create a narrative of the violence against Catholic religious personnel in Mexico during the last thirty years. The purpose is to classify cases of murders, establish the frequencies of crimes and the main patterns of such violence. Since 2007, Mexico has become a conflict zone and the phenomenon of murders of priests has increased exponentially. Our hypothesis is that Catholic priests represent a threat to the criminal governance that controls some areas of Mexico. We propose a comparison of the areas of violence to identify if there is a geographic concordance between the homicides of Catholic religious personnel with respect to other murders. The data analyzed will have its origin in reports on murders in Mexico against priests and religious from the Centro Católico Multimedial based in Mexico City. This article is part of a larger investigation that we are carrying out to understand religious violence against religious agents in Mexico since 1993, when a Catholic cardinal was allegedly killed by narcos. |
