The paper aims to illustrate the sophisticated structure and the relationship to Homer and Hesiod of the Delphic oracle concerning Leonidas and the Battle of Thermopylae, with special attention to the final three verses, as well as the oracular tradition and the narrative context in which Herodotus put the oracular response (VII 220). |
