| Summary: | The discourse around transhumanism in the academic field has focused especially on the possible bioethical consequences of this approach. This text tries to situate transhumanism in a broader framework of continuity with the history of Western thought, but referring to the reasons why it is considered necessary to situate it in an age not yet defined within the mentioned history. For this, the possible foundations of transhumanism throughout the history of the main Western philosophies have been highlighted, and the self-perception of man in each era is established as an element of distinction between the eras of said history. From this analysis, some basic anthropological limits are indicated to be able to continue talking about humanist thought in an era with a transhumanist horizon. El discurso en torno al transhumanismo en el ámbito académico se ha centrado especialmente en las posibles consecuencias bioéticas de este planteamiento. En este texto se intenta situar el transhumanismo en un marco más amplio de continuidad con la historia del pensamiento occidental, pero refiriendo las razones por las cuales se considera necesario situarlo en una edad todavía no definida dentro de dicha historia. Para ello se han puesto de relieve los posibles fundamentos del transhumanismo a lo largo de la historia de las principales filosofías occidentales, y se establece la percepción de sí del hombre en cada época como elemento de distinción entre las épocas de dicha historia. Desde este análisis se señalan algunos límites antropológicos básicos para poder seguir hablando de pensamiento humanista en una época con horizonte transhumanista. |
