Description
Summary:Artificial intelligence, through digital platforms, social networks, and algorithms, has had a profound impact on the lives of most societies in recent years, including in its religious dimension. In Brazil, the phenomenon of "digital influencers" has strongly reshaped the profile of Catholicism, in a clear break with the legacy of the Second Vatican Council and its most creative reception in the country, the Church and liberation theology. The article briefly traces some of the characteristics of post-conciliar Catholicism in Brazil and the recent role of some traditionalist digital influencers on Catholicism, showing the challenges this phenomenon raises for pastoral action and reflection.
