Description
Summary:In this essay I present the outline of an intuition: here I offer no more than some initial notes. As the target is modest, the method is equally so: I will propose a thick description of a certain aspect of the masterpiece of the debut of a definitive thinker: Mensonge romantique et vérité romanesque. In this book, published in 1961, René Girard cemented the alpha and omega of his mimetic theory in the oppositional pair composed of the concepts romantic lie and novel truth. Concepts-matrices around which the mimetic cathedral developed in spirals of ever-increasing complexity.
