| Summary: | A lo largo de su trayectoria académica y magisterial la referencia de Karol Wojtyla/Juan Pablo II a los tres trascendentales -el verum, el bonum y el pulchrum- ha sido constante. Este artículo expone el pensamiento del papa Wojtyla en torno a la belleza desde una triple perspectiva: en primer lugar, la belleza como esplendor, tanto de la gloria de Dios como de la verdad y el bien. En segundo lugar, la belleza como don o participación, manifestada en el caso del genio creativo y del amor humano. Finalmente, y como síntesis de las dos anteriores, la belleza como camino para adentrarse en el misterio del hombre, del mundo y de Dios (la via pulchritudinis). Throughout his academic and pontifical teachings, Karol Wojtyla/John Paul II’s reference to the three transcendentals -the verum, the bonum, and the pulchrum- has been constant. This article exposes the thought of Pope Wojtyla regarding beauty from a triple perspective: first, beauty as splendor, both of the glory of God and of truth and goodness. Second, beauty as a gift or participation, manifested in the case of creative genius and human love. Finally, and as a synthesis of the previous two, beauty as a way to delve into the mystery of man, the world and God (the via pulchritudinis). |
