Summary:This article was first presented at the nirc on 26 March 2024. The essay addresses ethical thought of the Danish philosopher Knud E. Løgstrup in which spontaneity plays an important role. Through a comparison with Tanabe Hajime’s metanoetics, the author brings Løgstrup’s account of spontaneity in conversation with Tanabe’s idea of naturalness in an attempt to rethink the Christian tradition within the context of intercultural dialogue.
