Description
Résumé:The article focuses on the conflicting relationship between religious institutions in the community of Goiabal, located in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. By that, religious rifts stand out from the "narratives of religious differentiation" produced by the leaders of Pentecostal communities in the territory. Therefore, the main sources of the work are the semi-structured interviews with religious leaders in which religious disputes, tensions, and petrified divisions in the community are revealed. Based on the category of "narratives of religious differentiation," one recognizes an edge of the disputes of "religious tendencies" (Lowy)—two evangelical churches—in front of the "terreiro," present in Goiabal; they shape a religious division in the community space in the Parque California area.
