| Summary: | This article examines the particular role played by Bishop Alois Muench in overseeing matters of faith when he was the first "papal nuncio" in the Federal Republic of Germany (from 1949). During the first five years, the activity of the "apostolic visitator" (from 1946) consisted principally in bringing practical help to the German civil population. However, his sphere of activity widened, at the latest from the time of his official nomination as nuncio in Germany. While his diplomatic and political activities aroused general interest, his action in the name of the Holy Office has until now gone unnoticed. Muench perceived the danger represented by religious indifferentism in Germany, as is shown by several publications. This led him to intensify the oversight of matters of faith in close collaboration with the Holy Office in Rome and to participate in disciplinary measures against controversial authors. L'article examine le rôle particulier que l'évêque Alois Muench a joué en ce qui concerne la surveillance de la foi lorsqu'il était le premier " nonce apostolique " en République fédérale d'Allemagne (à partir de 1949). Au cours des cinq premières années, l'activité du " visiteur apostolique " (à partir de 1946) consistait principalement à apporter une aide concrète à la population civile allemande. Cependant, son champ d'action s'est élargi, au plus tard dès sa nomination officielle en tant que nonce en Allemagne. Alors que ses activités diplomatiques et politiques ont suscité un intérêt général, son action au nom du Saint- Office est jusqu'à présent passée inaperçue. Muench percevait le danger que présentait un indifférentisme religieux en Allemagne, comme en témoignent plusieurs publications. Der Artikel untersucht die besondere Rolle, die Bischof Alois Muench in seiner Zeit als erster "Apostolischer Nuntius" in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (ab 1949) bezüglich der Glaubensüberwachung spielte. In den ersten fünf Jahren bestand die Tätigkeit des "Apostolischen Visitators" (ab 1946) hauptsächlich in der konkreten Hilfe für die deutsche Zivilbevölkerung, jedoch erweiterte sich sein Aufgabenfeld spätestens seit seiner offiziellen Ernennung zum Nuntius in Deutschland. Während seine diplomatischen und politischen Aktivitäten allgemeine Beachtung fanden, blieb sein Handeln im Auftrag des Heiligen Offiziums bisher unbeachtet. Muench sah die Gefahr eines religiösen Indifferentismus in Deutschland durch verschiedene Publikationen belegt, so dass er in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Heiligen Offizium in Rom die Glaubensüberwachung intensivierte und an disziplinarischen Maßnahmen gegenüber missliebigen Autoren mitwirkte. |
