Description
Summary:This article presents Augustine's philosophy of love, grounded in the Confessions of St. Augustine, where charity is highlighted as the most virtuous manifestation of love, guiding other human affections. The research adopted the methodology of bibliographic research in Augustine's major works on the theme of love and virtues, as well as in relevant religious studies. Thus, the text emphasizes the pursuit of truth, heart transformation, and the practice of charity as genuine expressions of love, emphasizing the formation of a virtuous character as true happiness. In presenting the results, we find that the order of love, in Augustine, is a condition for the real practice of charity, which the author understands as the ultimate goal of religious formation.
