| Summary: | The 2014 Bucharest conference was devoted to the contribution of the French Assumptionists to Byzantine studies. This contribution has been significant since the founding of the Byzantine Institute in Kadiköy under the direction of Louis Petit in 1895. This article attempts to highlight both the extremely rich results of their research and the difficulties faced by the few religious scholars working in Constantinople, then in Bucharest and finally in Paris. It also emphasizes the attempts at continuity that came from different sides, the Assumptionists’ relations with representatives of Russian science, and a few methodological questions. Le colloque de Bucarest de 2014 était consacré à l’apport des Assomptionnistes français aux études byzantines. Cet apport a été considérable depuis la fondation de l’Institut byzantin de Kadiköy sous la direction de Louis Petit en 1895. On cherche ici à mettre en évidence autant les résultats extrêmement riches de ces recherches que les difficultés auxquelles ont dû faire face les quelques savants religieux travaillant à Constantinople, puis à Bucarest et enfin à Paris. On y souligne aussi les essais de continuation venus de différents côtés, les relations des Assomptionnistes avec les représentants de la science russe, ainsi que quelques questions de méthodologie. |
