Riepilogo:The Church Fathers are rarely used to explain the synodal image of the priest, while ancient authors frequently serve as one of the main sources for the discussion of synodal ecclesiology. However, Augustine is not considered because it was thought that there was not much to report about Augustine's priestly life from 391-395. The article highlights the main synodal ideas taken from the life and Works of Augustine as a Priest, stressing that the priests should avoid Manichaean and Pelagian views of priesthood because the latter may lead to self-focus, while the former to self-isolation from the world. Also ep. 21, and s. 340A, are addressed, stressing the Authority and Obedience as essential parts of the synodal priesthood.
