Theologie unterscheidet sich von Religionswissenschaft dadurch, dass sie nicht nur „aus Interesse an“ einer Religion ausgeübt wird, sondern „im Interesse von“ einer Religionsgemeinschaft. Wenngleich es keinen Gottesbeweis geben kann, wenn Gott größer sein soll, als alles, was man denken kann, kann die Geschöpflichkeit der Welt bewiesen werden: Gott ist „ohne wen nichts ist“. Dadurch werden analoge Aussagen in Bezug auf Gott möglich und zugleich bleibt anerkannt, dass Gott in sich selbst nicht „unter“ einen Begriff fällt. Alle Aussagen und alle Voraussetzungen von Theologie stehen der Prüfung offen. Grundsätzlich gilt, dass der christliche Glaube nicht auf Vernunft zurückführbar ist; wohl aber sind alle Einwände gegen ihn, die sich auf Vernunft berufen, auf dem Feld der Vernunft und allein mit Vernunftgründen zu entkräften. A general definition of science is: knowledge that gives an account of the sources of what it knows, and of the commensurate way to open them up, and that is universally open for critical examination (Gerhard Ebeling). Theology differs from Science of Religions in that it is exercised not only “out of interest in” a religion, but “in the interest of ” a religion. There cannot be a proof for the existence of God if God is meant to be greater than anything which can be thought of. But that the world in all its aspects is created can be proved: God is “without whom nothing can exist”. This allows for analogous language in relation to God while at the same time maintaining that we cannot put God “under” a concept. All that is said in theology and all its presuppositions are open to public examination. Christian faith cannot be reduced to reason; but any objections to faith that claim to be based on reason must also be argued against only with arguments of reason |
