| Summary: | The article tries to answer the question that arises in reading Catholic texts on mixed marriages: is the difference of faith a threat to marital life? In doing so, two points are considered: first, a couple’s life shows that in conjugal life many differences are at play between the two spouses (personal history, family origin, political views, passions, desires, how to spend their free time, etc.). Thus, the difference of faith is just one among many others. Secondly, even when the spouses are both Catholic there is a difference in the way they live their faith and, further, this difference needs to be managed. By taking these two points into consideration, we are led to deepen the relationship between individual faith and the couple relationship. Questions to be addressed are: how does the relationship help the partners to grow in faith? How does their faith improve their relationship? |
