Description
Summary:An in-depth reading of the decision of the Council of Nicaea II renews our perception of the Christian relationship between image and prototype, as well as our understanding of the justification of artistic images that follows from it. It also reveals its profound convergence, centuries apart, with the theology of beauty of Hans Urs von Balthasar: the prototype of Christian images as defined by Nicaea II is none other than the total Christ contemplated in the Balthasarian Gestalt.
