| Summary: | Negli scritti di Teresa di Lisieux si trovano espressioni di particolare intensità che coinvolgono l’immaginazione del lettore e testimoniano la fantasia creativa dell’autrice. Tali espressioni solitamente compaiono nei testi dei mistici, ma nel nostro caso ci colpiscono per la loro originalità e il loro impatto, che senza dubbio influiscono in modo decisivo sul carattere del messaggio dell’autrice. Dato che il ruolo dell’immaginazione nell’esperienza artistica, sia attiva che passiva, è inestimabile, vederne l’importanza e la specificità negli scritti di santa Teresa può rivelarsi utile per gettare un ponte tra spiritualità e arte. Questa sarebbe l’immaginazione, usata in modo altamente creativo. La presentazione inizierà delineando la definizione e le possibilità di comprensione del concetto di immaginazione, in particolare nel contesto della spiritualità e della teologia. Poi, sulla base di queste considerazioni, verranno presentati esempi dell’uso che Teresa di Lisieux ne fa nei suoi testi autobiografici. Nella sezione finale, sulla base delle suddette analisi degli esempi della Santa, si cercherà di formulare delle conclusioni sia sull’importanza dell’immaginazione nella spiritualità sia sulla sua utilità nella formazione e nello sviluppo spirituale. In the writings of Thérèse of Lisieux we find expressions of particular intensity that engage the reader’s imagination and testify to the author’s creative fantasy. Such expressions usually appear in the texts of mystics, but in our case they strike us by their originality and impact, which undoubtedly have a decisive influence on the character of the author’s message. Since the role of imagination in artistic experience, both active and passive, is invaluable, seeing its importance and specificity in the writings of St. Teresa may prove useful in bridging the gap between spirituality and art. This bridge would be imagination, used in a highly creative way. The presentation will begin by outlining the definition and possibilities of understanding the concept of imagination, particularly in the context of spirituality and theology. Then, based on these considerations, examples of Teresa of Lisieux’s use of it in her autobiographical texts will be presented. In the final section, on the basis of the aforementioned analyses of the saint’s examples, an attempt will be made to formulate conclusions about both the importance of imagination in spirituality and its usefulness in spiritual formation and development. |
