Description
Summary:It seems to be a widespread agreement among the most recent contributions in studies on contemporary religious architecture that the liturgical provisions consecrated by the Second Vatican Council, which had their first steps in the nineteenth century and their full development in the Liturgical Movement, were decisive in what we have come to call contemporary religious architecture. However, it is the purpose of this paper to question such assertions, or at least their forcefulness, in order to introduce some element(s) that we consider were actually more important, and above all more decisive, in the reform of Christian religious architecture in the last century.
