Item Description:View of the church and graveyard at Jamestown, Va. (site of the first permanent English Settlement in America, 1607) showing the famous old tower and Memorial Church in rear, built over the foundations of the first brick church of 1638-39. Inside may be seen ancient tombs and the foundations of the smaller church of 1617 in which the first Legislative assembly in America was convened on July 30, 1619. - The restored church was the gift of the Colonial Dames of America
