Description
Item Description:St. John's Church. This was originally erected in 1656, and the church given its present name in 1827. In June, 1813, it was sacked and later repaired. On August 7, 1861, (the first year of the Civil War) it was burned; the original walls stood and the building was restored during 1867-70. Distinguished dead are buried in the churchyard, many of which took an active part in the early history of this country
