Item Description:San Fernando Cathedral was named after Prince Fernand, the second son of King Philip V. during whose reign and ubder whose patronage the old historic church was built in 1738. Thus the ancient Cathedral bears to this day the title of "Royal Chapel of San Fernando". The Cathedral parish was first organized when the City of San Antonio was founded in 1731
