Item Description:Three miles from downtown El Paso, this 53-foot sandstone staue stands atop Mt. Cristo Rey at the junction of Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. Father Lourdes F. Costa of the Smeltertown, Texas parish was the driving force behind the erection of this gigantic statue which was carved by the hands of Urbici Soler, internationally known sculptor who labored for two years on the project. Cristo Rey stands as the Prince of Peace between Mexico and the United States
