Item Description:St. Helena Island, Beaufort County, S.C. - One of the best example of tabby construction (oyster shells) is the Chapel of Ease of St. Helena's Parish. Built about 1740 for use as a convenience for plantation owners too far from Beaufort to attend church there. It was destroyed by forest fire in 1886
