Item Description:2nd Street above Market Founded 1695....Built 1727 An active parish church of the Protestant Episcopal Church which was established here in 1785. Dr. William White consecrated Bishop while Rector 1772-1836; for this reason steeple is topped by Bishop's Mitre. Signers of Declaration of Independence and Constitution worshipped here as did President Washington. Church is Georgian architecture, planned by men who later built Independence Hall. Rare books, documents, Colonial silver among treasures in vault. Church open every day with guide on duty; Sunday services 9 and 11 A.M.; supported by voluntary contributions. Christ Church Burial Ground at 5th and Arch Streets contains Benjamin Franklin's grave
