Description
Item Description:In the centre of Santa Fe stands the old San Miguel Church, which has been aptly termed "The Cradle of Christianity in America." Built in 1540 it was partially demolished by the natives in the insurrection of 1680, but was restored in 1710 and has ever since been maintained in an excellent state of preservation. In its belfry hangs an ancient copper bell cast in the year 1350, and on the walls of the church are religious paintings filled with holes where the canvas was pierced by the arrows of the Indians
