Description
Item Description:Originally built in early 1700's by the Franciscans. - Ranchos de Taos Church - - Stands magnificent in the solitude of the distant peaks against the intense blue of new Mexico's radiant skies - - and is considered on the most interesting of the old Spanish Missions of the Southwest. The date of its founding is not exactly known but rebuilt in 1772, the present church is of adobe, with walls many feet thick. Cruciform in shape, it measures more than 120 feet long - - and the massive construction lends it the appearance of a fortress
