Description
Item Description:"The City in the Sky", home of the Acoma Indians several hundred years before Coronado's time. The Mission, dedicated to St. Stephen, was established in 1629 A.D. by Friar Jan Ramirez, one of the early Franciscan missionaries. The Mission was 10 years in building. Walls are 9 feet thick. Timbers for the roof, brought from 30 miles away had to be hoisted to the top of the Rock with grass ropes
