Item Description: | First Established Masonic Lodge in Indiana. The Vincennes (Indiana) Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons is not only the oldest in the state but the oldest established lodge of continuous existence in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and a part of Minnesota which states comprised the old Northwest Territory. The Vincennes Lodge was organized in 1809 under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky as Lodge No. 15. It became Lodge No. 1, January 13, 1818 after Indiana was admitted as a state |
