Item Description:A nationally famous marriage shrine, the Little Brown Church in the Vale, located 11 miles from Charles City and 2 miles form Nashua, Iowa, was built in 1860-64. Rev. William Kent during 10 years of his pastorate, 1929-1940, performed nearly 7,000 marriages, his successor Rev. F. L. Hanscom, during one year, over 1500, as many as 15 to 27 on Saturday and Sunday
