| Item Description: | Eugenio Pacelli, born in Rome son of a Vatican lawyer. Ordained in 1899, Monsignor 1904, Papal Nuncio to Bavaria in 1917 and after the war. Cardinal in 1929, later Secretary of State to the Vatican serving on many diplomatic missions in Europe, South America, and the United States.
