| Item Description: | Kong Chow Temple is San Francisco's oldest, where thousands of Chinese worshipped for almost a century. Its interior is sumptuous with gilded carving, golden scrolls, enameled urns, bronze vases, embroideries, inlaid teak tables, and statues. The altar, seated the shrines and spacious for several worship-parties simultaneously, is of unusual Oriental beauty. Gow Bui and Chim are symbolic signs for conducting the Deities. The Temple's entrance leading through a large court ad fountain is, indeed, very enchanting |
