Item Description:Founded in 1823 at Sonoma, California. The most northern and youngest of the missions, this mission served as Spanish outpost against the Russians. Sonoma was the first to receive the protection of the United States. It was here that the Colonists staged the Bear Flag Rebellion. Today this mission is visited by many tourist as a Museum and State Historical Monument
