Item Description: | Tumacacori was built by the Franciscan Fathers, -- partially destroyed by Indians in 1840, and when discovered by Americans in 1850, it was in a state of complete ruin. Today, it is an imposing national monument; the desolate ruins have been removed, and much of the building restored as was possible without marring its antiquity. The Mission is a pleasant stopping-off place in making the trip from Tucson to the Mexican border town of Nogales |
